Sometimes, it can be hard to find time for the gym. That is not a problem anymore, now anyone can enjoy the benefits of a complete gym workout, right in their home. Try a new approach to getting fit, by switching to resistance training, with resistance bands. Resistance bands have been available for years now, but some die-hard body-builders still remain skeptical about the effectiveness of training with resistance bands. Hesitate no longer, and take a fresh look at all the wonderful advantages of resistance bands.
What Makes Resistance Bands Different From Free Weights?
Unlike free-weights, Resistance bands will produce a constant tension on the muscles. This is not possible with the use of dumbbells, and barbells. This constant tension allows users to really focus on both the concentric (lifting), and the eccentric (lowering) movements of the workout.
During the concentric motion the muscles are actually contracting, while eccentric motions are causing the muscle to extend. Most people fail to fully consider the importance of the eccentric motions, while lifting free-weights. Often, people lift and lower the weights much too rapidly for their muscles to efficiently benefit from the workout.
The purpose of weight training is to stimulate the muscles to recruit as much fiber into themselves as possible. This process is reduced, by an increase of speed in any weight training exercise.
The solution to this problem lies in the principles of resistance training, with Resistance bands. The user has much greater control over both the concentric and eccentric motions, due to the constant tension of the Resistance Bands. This provides an actual challenge to the the muscles, which forces them to adapt, and grow.
Resistance bands will strengthen, and elongate the muscles, which leads to firm, lean muscle growth in less time than conventional free-weights. Through resistance training, flexibility can also be tremendously improved. Resistance bands are capable of stimulating muscles, and muscle groups in ways that are just impossible to achieve with standard free-weight workouts.
Short rest periods are recommended, between sets, as it is during this time that most muscle growth actually takes place. The expected end results will include an increase of both stamina, and endurance. All this, and a healthy diet can easily translate into an improvement of cardiovascular health.
Resistance bands help build stronger, more flexible muscles than any free-weight is capable. They can be conveniently used at home or work as well.
